They avoid decisions that are hard to undo. They keep boundaries simple, dependencies visible, and abstractions grounded in real needs. Sometimes duplication early is cheaper than forcing a generic solution too soon. Sometimes a clear, direct flow is better than deeply layered design. Over time, one question matters more than anything: How hard is the next change? If adding a simple feature means untangling multiple abstractions, the design is too rigid. Perfect systems rarely survive reality. Adaptable systems do.
